Tammy Maureen Bottolfson, 62, of Grand Island, gained her wings Thursday, Nov. 18th, 2021, at CHI Health St. Francis surrounded by loved ones.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23rd at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island with Reverend Bev Hieb officiating. Visitation will be on Monday Nov. 22nd from 5 to 7 p.m. at Apfel Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designations.
Tammy was born Sept. 8th, 1959 in Newberg, Oregon to Maurice and Corrinne (Jeffres) Johnson. She grew up on a dairy farm in Scotia, NE and attended North Loup/Scotia schools until moving to Grand Island with her mother, where she achieved her G.E.D – School of Life Experiences.
On May 19, 1978, she married Dana Peterson. This union was blessed with three daughters; Alicia, Tanya and Jamie. Tammy was blessed to be a stay at home mother for many years and did daycare in their home until 1998 when she began managing a local motel. She later married Bill Bottolfson on July 6, 2001, to which she gained three bonus sons; Eric, Tim and Darrin. The kids often referred to their family as the modern day “Brady Bunch”! Tammy was a Service Writer/Parts Manager for Bosselman’s Truck Repair Shop for 9 years until her health forced her retirement in 2013. Tammy was an avid bowler in her younger years. She enjoyed drawing, crafting, cooking and gardening. She loved to make handmade gifts for her grandkids for them to cherish for years to come. Spending time with her family was very important to her, especially her grandchildren. She was very close to her grandbabies and she was their #1 fan/cheerleader for all of their various activities and achievements. Tammy was sassy, sarcastic, sweet and had the biggest heart!! She was known to say hello, and maybe even goodbye, with her universal salute, “flipping you the bird”! Due to her caring nature she gained countless honorary “kids” and “family” members, whom she guided, mentored and loved as her own.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Bill Bottolfson; children, Alicia Dahlke, Tanya Peterson and Sam Butler, Jamie Suck and Jason Claypool, Eric (Fawn) Bottolfson, Tim Bottolfson, Darrin Bottolfson and Angie Leach; 13 grandchildren, Alexis, Maci, Jaxon, Foster, Gemma, MaKenna, Aniya, Timothy, Gavin, Kiptyn, Korbyn, Maddie, Lauren and numerous honorary “kids”; her brother, Doug (Kim) Johnson; brothers/sisters in-law, Bob (Deb) Bottolfson, Brian Bottolfson, Brooke (Luis) Molina, Michelle (Russ) Meyer, Brandt Bottolfson and Jordan Robinson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Brad Johnson and Terry Johnson; father in-law, Bill Bottolfson Sr.; mother in-law Jerri Stalsberg; and numerous aunts and uncles.
