Steven Wayne Clark

Steven Wayne Clark, 73, of Grand Island, NE died on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island, NE. A Memorial Service will be at 10AM on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Apfel Funeral Home with Derek Apfel, CFC officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.

He was born on May 25, 1952, at Grand Island, NE to Augustus (Bud) and Lois (Ziggafoos) Clark. Steven grew up in Grand Island and attended Grand Island Public Schools and was a member of Trinity Methodist Church.

Steven worked at Goodwill Industries and Skagway Deli where he met many friends. He always enjoyed seeing them in various locations in Grand Island. He also enjoyed working on contracts at Mid Nebraska Individual Services. The staff and clients have become important people in his life.

Steve’s hobbies included Special Olympics. He was very proud of the newspaper picture and article that displayed his numerous medals. He loved to bowl and did so for many years! Music was a great love of his and he was never bashful about singing and dancing! Elvis, Lover Boy, Foreigner, the Beach Boys, and Kansas were some of his favorites. Some of his favorite sports teams were the Nebraska Huskers, New York Yankees (especially Aaron Judd), Kansas City Royals, and the Phillies.

The family would like to specially thank Mike, Teresa, Gerard, and Ava Dunning for their love and care of Steven in the recent months. His family and friends will remember his loving and friendly spirit always.

Steven is survived by his sister, Patricia Deines of Grand Island; niece, Debbie (Shawn) Pollock of Papillion, NE; nephew, David (Kelli) Deines of Clive, IA; and five great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents: Ward and Gladys Ziggafoos and Augustus and Florence Clark; brother-in-law, Dennis Deines; and aunts and uncles.
