Sterling James Price, age 86, passed away on April 13, 2026. Sterling was born on March 16,1940 in Portland, Oregon, to Robert James Price and Delores A. Price.
In 1947 Sterling moved with his family to the Tekamah, Nebraska area. Sterling later relocated to Grand Island, Nebraska where he lived with his father and brother. Sterling will be remembered for his quiet strength, enduring presence, and lasting impact he made on those who knew him. Dr. Seuss had a saying “don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” We are all so fortunate that Sterling happened. He was a true joy in everyone’s life. You couldn’t help but smile when you visited with Sterling.
Sterling loved to be around people. He was shy, but enjoyed the company of others. Sterling had a love of animals. Sterling also loved bright colors, such as electric blue, hot pink, sunny yellow and bright orange. These colors made him feel happy. Sterling enjoyed the occasional going out to eat, and trips to Walmart. His absolute most favorite pastime was watching television, he watched shows like Gunsmoke.
Sterling was close to the Nick and Rosie Kallos family who welcomed Sterling into their family after the death of Sterling’s father. The Kallos family frequently invited Sterling to family dinners during the holidays.
Sterling was especially fond of his friend, Lori Carpenter. Lori, please know that Sterling trusted you with every fiber he had. You were his confidant, his caregiver, and his devoted friend. Lori, you were definitely Sterling’s bestest friend in the world.
Galen Stehlik, you met Sterling years ago, and you took him under your wing and devoted your time in taking care of Sterling as well. You watched out for him, and Sterling so much appreciated your friendship and knowledge. You and the staff of Stehlik Law Firm went out of your way to insure Sterling’s well-being. Galen, you called Sterling the “dancing bear” because Sterling was such a delightful man, and he definitely lit up the room like a dancing bear could do. Now Sterling is dancing in heaven.
Sterling is survived by his sister, Pamela Price Rauch (Charles Rauch) of Parrish, Florida, as well as several nieces, nephews, and numerous cousins who will remember him fondly.
Sterling will be deeply missed and forever held in the hearts of his family and friends. Sterling may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts. Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories. Sterling was most definitely a beautiful soul, and is cherished by all who knew him. Sterling, may you forever rest in peace.
