Stanley Wayne Allen

Stanley Wayne Allen of Grand Island, Nebraska, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025 at the age of 79, following a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer.

Stan was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marge, who passed in 2021; his son, Wes, who died in a car accident in 1992; and his cherished granddaughter, Amelia.

Stan was raised on a farm five miles north of Aurora, Nebraska, and graduated from Aurora High School in 1964. Shortly after graduation, he proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, serving four years primarily along the East Coast, with additional time spent near Panama.

A true hard worker, Stan possessed a wide range of mechanical skills throughout his life, including refrigeration, welding, farming, servicing soda machines, and operating a fertilizer facility west of Aurora. An early adopter of advancing technologies, Stan had a natural curiosity and mechanical mind - able to take a computer apart and put it back together with ease. He took great pride in his work and in providing for his family.

Stan greatly enjoyed family gatherings and had a deep love for animals, especially his loyal dog, Piper, who remained by his side through his final days.

He is survived by his children, Jim Allen (Jenny), John (Tammy) Allen, Andrew Allen, Steve (Jennifer) Allen, and Katrina (Jeff) Glinsmann; and his grandchildren, Reid, Ryan, Ashley, Eric, Miles, Rhodes, Hunter, Ian and seven great grandchildren

The family plans to hold a small, private ceremony in 2026. Apfel Funeral Home is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Stan’s memory to: Island Pet Resort, Grand Island, NE.
