Sherry was born on August 23, 1940, at the Schuett (now Kissler) family farm where she peacefully passed away. Sherry’s parents Edwin and Opal Schuett taught her a family ethic of working, learning and loving that is of the rarest gifts that children inherit today. Sherry attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln where she met the love of her life Jack and started their journey together.
Jack and Sherry entered Active Duty in the Army after Jack received his commission and served for about 8 years. During this time they traveled the world (Europe, Korea, other pillars) except Jack’s solo tour in Vietnam. Sherry was the rock that supported Jack when he needed it and the pillar to keep the family strong while Jack was serving. They left the Army and moved back to the Family Farm in Cairo where they farmed a bit and worked.
Sherry worked about 24 years as a teacher with the Ravenna School District where her passion was teaching and helping young kids learn. Sherry was a foundational member of the Cairo Roots Society and had an unmatched passion for genealogy. She was also a studious history buff, passionate gardener, and taught everyone around her what was important in life. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, her weekly bridge club and above all Husker athletics, specifically volleyball.
Finally to her loving family she was the matriarch that kept everyone together and taught us to how to stay together. Sherry is survived by her three children; Jeff and Dawni (Johnson) Kissler, Scott Kissler and Chuck and Seanna (Kissler) Kortz. Sherry is survived by nine grandchildren; Kieran, Conner, Jackson, Anna Sophia, Tanner, John, Nick, and Ayden and Bella (Kortz) Berney. She was also blessed to enjoy two great grandchildren (Asher and Kaden Berney) and was surrounded by amazing friends all the time.
She is preceded in death by husband, Jack Kissler; parents, Ed and Opal Schuett; and other relatives, and friends.
Sherry was a dedicated teacher, spouse, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She made the world a better, more beautiful and kinder place and she will be forever missed on earth.
