Sharon Ann Morhain

Sharon A. Morhain, 89, of Grand Island, NE died on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at her home. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Apfel Funeral Home. Visitation will be an hour prior to the start of the service. Burial will follow in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date. Sharon was born on June 12, 1936, in Grand Island, NE to Lester and Venona (Sorensen) Poole. She grew up in Grand Island and was united in marriage to Maurice Morhain on May 30, 1953, in Grand Island at the First Church of the Nazerene. Sharon and Morey lived in various towns across Nebraska as Morey traveled for the Union Pacific Railroad. During that time Sharon stayed home to raise their family.

She was a member of the Grand Island Women’s Club, the Union Pacific Employee Club, the Platte Duetsche, and played bridge for the Shriners Hospital. Sharon enjoyed playing cards, reading, cross stitch and crocheting. Before Morey’s passing, she loved tending to her flower garden, and to this day she still loved flowers. Sharon loved spending time with her grandchildren and family whenever she could.

Sharon is survived by her children: Deborah (Earl) Dahlkoetter, Kenneth (Kathy) Morhain, Gordon (Liz) Morhain, Maurice “James” Morhain Jr., and Jeanelle (Jim) Grimes; 17 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and one on the way; three step-great grandchildren; and cousin Shirley Roberts.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters: Jeanette Ivers, Cathy Poole, and Pauline Rassiter; and brothers: Ronald and Leslie Poole.
