Sharlene Kay Minor, 84, of St. Libory died Thursday, August 27, 2026, at her home. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island with Derek Apfel officiating. Burial will follow in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. The family requests casual or Husker attire. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
Sharlene was born November 18, 1941, in Grand Island to John and Irene (Bebb) Smith. She grew up in Grand Island and attended school at Grand Island Senior High.
On November 4, 1959, Sharlene married Clarence Minor in Grand Island. After which the couple lived in Grand Island, Cairo, and Alda. She was employed at Bullet Weights for 28 years.
She was a lifetime member of the VFW, Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW, Boy Scout leader, and Snoop Sister Society-founding member. Her hobbies included watching Husker football, playing Nintendo, being outside, and playing penny slots and Powerball. Her greatest love was her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence; children: Todd (Tina) Minor of Newport, TN, Mark (Pam) Minor of Grand Island, Kim (Alan) West of Cairo, Penny (Tim) Putscher of St. Libory; six grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Suzanne Pederson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Robert Lulow, Jim Lulow; sisters: Shirley Mackey, Yvonne Burkman, Ruth Liebhart, Cathy Dorrance, and Phyllis Heather.
