Ruth E. Ohlsen

Ruth Eldora (Blessin) Ohlsen died January 30, 2024, at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings.  Funeral service will be 10:00 am on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Peace Lutheran Church in Hastings with Pastor Micah Gaunt officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until the service. Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Wanda Cemetery near Juniata at a later date. Apfel Funeral Home is in care of the family.  

She was born October 7, 1935, in Adams County, Nebraska and graduated from Holstein High School in 1954.  She was a homemaker and in her later years worked in nursing homes in Logan, Kansas where her husband was a Lutheran Pastor and at Good Samaritan Village until her retirement. She married Neil Ohlsen in 1959 and they had five children.  

She is survived by her oldest daughter Carolyn McClure, and daughter Rosemary Ohlsen, son, Michael (Shannon) Ohlsen, step grandson, Parker (Abby) Corrin, two step great-granddaughters, Gemma and Louise and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Neil, brother Harold Blessin, her sons Tim, and Paul Ohlsen.
