Ronald Elwyn Clark

Ronald E. Clark, 95, of Grand Island, NE died on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at home with family by his side. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM Friday, June 6, 2025, at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints in Grand Island, NE with Bishop Jon Rosenlund officiating. Interment will follow in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday at the Church. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date. Apfel Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

He was born on February 1, 1930, at Nelson, NE to Orville and Velma (Herrick) Clark. He grew up in rural Nelson until 1947 when the family moved to Grand Island. He received his education from Grand Island Public Schools and graduated from Senior High with the class of 1948. Ron was united in marriage to Mary Dickerson on March 12, 1950, at the Salt Lake City, Utah Temple. From this marriage came two sons, Kenneth and Gary Clark. Mary later died on February 25, 2010.

Ron and his family lived in Illinois from 1955 to 1963 and upon their return to Grand Island Ron continued to own and operate Clark Brothers Sanitation until his retirement in 1980. In addition to owning his business Ron was also a talented taxidermist and was able to focus more on the trade after retirement.

He married Billie Cheever on June 6, 2015, at the Winter Quarters in Omaha, NE.

Ron enjoyed fishing, trapping, and being with his family when he could. He was an active member in his church for 61 years.

He is survived by his wife, Billie; son, Kenneth (Judy) Clark; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Clark; honorary daughter, Mindy (Verlon) Shears; 45 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Ron is preceded in death by his first wife, Mary; and son, Gary Clark.
