Raymond Vang, 87, of Grand Island, NE died on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Society in Grand Island, NE. Memorial services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island, on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 10:30AM with Pastor Adam Snoberger officiating. Burial will follow at 1:30 PM at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday from 5 to 7PM at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church, Trinity Lutheran School or Grand Island Lutheran High.
Raymond was born to Harvey and Ardelle (Petersen) in North Platte, Nebraska and grew up in Grand Island, Minden, and Wolbach. He attended Minden High School and graduated with the class of 1956.
He served in the military (Army) for a short time from 1961-1963 in Germany. He bailed hay in Minden with Stalden Inn and then worked at Roily Plastics before moving to Grand Island where he had a 49.5 year career at Berkeley Pump/Pentair Co.
Raymond was united in marriage to Florence Miller in 1960. Florence passed away in August 2008. Raymond and Marilyn (Helmbrecht) Glover were united in marriage in 2015.
Raymond enjoyed being with his family and attending his kids’ and grandkids’ events. Some of his favorite past times were playing cards with friends, camping, and woodworking. He was also an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he drove the church van for many years.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Marilyn; son, Chris (Gena) Vang of Elkhorn, NE; daughters: Teresa (Mark) Freeling of Gering, NE and Michelle (Jay) Otto of Phillips, NE; stepsons: Brian (Deb) Glover and Kevin Glover; stepdaughter, Jennifer (Jonathan) Pulscher; 13 grandchildren: Isaiah and Noah Vang; Bethany (Dylan) Gress, Blayten, Anastyn, Arrayah, and Jackson Freeling; Jeremy, Anthony (Lauryn), Brandon (Krista), Devin, Alexis, and Carlynda Otto;five step grandchildren: Chase, Katie, and Kensley Glover; Adeline and Tristian Pulscher; one great-granddaughter; one great-grandson on the way; brothers: Ken Vang of Colorado and Randy (Pam) Vang of Kansas; sister, Patty Morris of Grand Island; brothers-in-law: Larry Wiegert of Grand Island and Donald (Shirley) Helmbrecht of Kearney; sisters-in-law: Carol (Robert) Haubold of Texas and Donna (Steve) Hibband of Grand Island; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his first wife Florence; parents; grandparents; aunts and uncles; sisters: Karen Vang and Judy Wiegert; sister-in-law, Marge Vang; and brother-in-law, Larry Morris
