Rachel L. Hinrikus

Rachel Hinrikus, 72, of Prosser died on August 24, 2026. at her home. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at Redeemer Lutheran Evangelical Church in Hastings, NE. Online condolences can be sent to www.apfelfuneralhome.com.

Rachel was born on May 24, 1954 to Robert and Delsie O. (Olsen) Bader. Her family lived in northwestern Kansas until she was 9 years old. They moved to Grand Island, NE where Rachel attended Christ Lutheran School from 4th to 8th grades. In High School she attended Northwestern Lutheran Academy in Mobridge, SD for two years. Her Junior and Senior years were at Doniphan High School in Doniphan, NE.

After High School she was united in marriage to Myron Hinrikus, and they lived in various residences around Myron’s farm by Prosser. They had three children: James, Mike, and Leah. Rachel enjoyed housekeeping, yard work, and garden work. She enjoyed sewing. Her favorite passion was doll collecting.

Rachel was grateful for her Christian upbringing and being with a Christian husband who instructed their family in the word. Rachel’s last church membership was at Redeemer Lutheran Evangelical Church in Hastings, NE.

She is survived by her husband: Myron; brother: Robert Bader Jr.; sister Ruth (RaLynn) Christ; brothers-in-law Jerry and Danny; sister-in-law Angela; children and their respected spouses: James (Jennifer) Hinrikus, Mike (Carrie) Hinrikus, Leah (Peter) Micheel; 10 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law: Max and Wilhelmina Hinrikus; sisters-in-law: Kate Hinrikus, Marcia Hinrikus.
