Hastings resident, Phyllis M. Cassell, 69, died Friday, February 20, 2009 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital; Hastings, NE. Rosary will be Monday, February 23, 2009 at 7:30 PM at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Hastings, NE. Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at 10:30 AM at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Hastings, NE with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, NE. Visitation will be Sunday, February 22, 2009 from 12 noon to 9 PM and Monday, February 23, 2009 from 8 AM to 5 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE and one hour prior to the services at the church. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Phyllis was born, January 19, 1940 to Christian and Ann (Braun) Dohmen in Humphrey, NE. She attended school at the St. Anthony High School in Columbus, NE she graduated from Central Catholic High School in Grand Island, NE in 1957. She married Vernon Cassell at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Grand Island, NE in 1957. They moved to Lincoln, NE for 3 years, and then they moved to Hastings, NE. She worked at Knights of Columbus, and volunteered in the kitchen during bingo night and Carmel Corn at the mall and she worked at Hinkey Dinkey for several years retiring from there due to health reasons. She was a member of the St. Michaels Catholic Church, Hastings, NE. and was a member of the St. Michaels Altar Society. She is survived by her husband Vernon of Hastings, NE, 5 daughters, Christine Schafer, of Hastings, NE, Cindy Anderson of Hampton, Virginia, Colleen Fielder of Hastings, NE, Cheryl Rippe of Omaha, NE and Carol Lovitt of Kearney, NE. 15 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren.her mother Ann Dohman of Grand Island, NE, 5 sisters, Betty Ganow of Grand Island, NE, Margaret Vang of Denver, CO, Arlene Kramer of Grand Island, NE, Connie Hannon of Doniphan, NE and Karen Hoover of Grand Island, NE. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the St. Michaels Catholic Church, Hastings, NE.
