Pat L. Behrends

Patricia “Pat” L. Behrends, 88, of Grand Island, NE passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, with her family by her side. Funeral Services will be at 10 AM on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Trinity Methodist Church in Gollaher Chapel - Grand Island, NE with Reverend April Wegehaupt officiating. Burial will follow in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be an hour prior to the start of the service. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.

Pat was born on August 9, 1937, in Burwell, NE to Ralph and Ruby (Cronk) Brown. She grew up in Broken Bow and graduated with the class of 1955. She was united in marriage to Maynard on July 16, 1973, in Colorado. After which the couple resided in Grand Island where she was employed by Greens Muffler Shop as their secretary for many years.

She was an avid singer and loved attending choir practice and singing a hymn whenever she had the chance. Pat made a habit of making QVC purchases and turned out to be quite the Facebook enthusiast. Her time was most cherished with her family as she showed up to every gathering and was always there when her family needed her. Her family will miss her cinnamon rolls and the joy that she always brought to their lives.

Pat is survived by her children: Sharon (Dan) Tonsing, Richard (Charlynn) Behrends; sons-in-law: Marvin Coble and John Ellingson; sister, Beula Miner; brother, Merton Brown; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Maynard; daughters: Janet “Lefty” Coble and Diane Ellingson; siblings: Melvin Brown, Vance Brown, and Joan Dishman; and brothers-in-law: Melvin Miner and Delbert Dishman.
