Norma Jean Bullis, 93, of Ravenna died Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at the Mother Hull Home in Kearney.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 31, 2024, at 10:00 am at Apfel Funeral Home, 1123 W 2nd St, Grand Island, NE 68801. Visitation will be from 9:00 am to the start of the service. Interment will be at Westlawn Cemetery immediately after the service followed by a luncheon at the funeral home. Memorials may be designated to The Denver Street School or to the family to be designated at a later date.

Norma Jean Bullis was born on July 9, 1930, in Grand Island, Nebraska, to Orville R. and Opal (Rickert) Clanton.  She graduated from Grand Island High School in 1948.  After graduation she worked at Overland National Bank for almost two years.

She married Dewey L. Bullis on October 10, 1948, in GI.  They moved to Ravenna, NE, in 1957 and were married for 65 years.  They moved from their home on Milan Avenue to Seneca Sunrise Assisted Living in Ravenna in 2012.  She resided there until 2022 when she needed skilled nursing care at Mother Hull Home in Kearney, Nebraska.  She passed away there peacefully in her sleep.

Norma was a devoted homemaker and then worked as a cook at Ravenna High School for 27 years.  She was active in the community and serving with the Lion’s Club.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, and crocheting.  She made many afghans, eleven in one year as Christmas gifts.  She attended the Methodist Church, Open Bible Church, the Congregational Church in Ravenna and the Evangelical Free Church in GI. She taught Sunday School for many years.  She loved to play the piano and enjoyed singing with family during the many times when she entertained family in their home.

Survivors include her children, Cordell (Carol) Bullis of Bellevue, NE, Barbara (Mike) Rosenthal of Kearney, NE, Douglas (Yvette) Bullis of Lakewood, CO; grandchildren, Kevin (Heather) Bullis, Karin (Jamie) Vaughn, Kurt (Taryn) Bullis, Kristie (John) Stanko, Matthew (Christy) Kuticka, Justin (Karissa) Bullis, Nathan (Rachel) Bullis, and Jenna (Josh) Brownlow; great grandchildren, Kayla (Caleb) Johnson, Tyler Vaughn, Theodore Bullis, Juniper, Genevieve, Tessa, and Philippa Bullis, John Stanko, Grace, Micah, and Mollie Kuticka, Finley, Emerson, and Coraline Bullis, Emery and Adeline Bullis, Lydia and Declan Brownlow; and great great grandchild, Josie Johnson.

Norma is also survived by her sister-in-law, Jean Clanton, of Elkhorn, NE, and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Orville L. Clanton, husband, Dewey Bullis, and daughter-in-law, Julie (Olsen) Bullis.
