Neil Avery Quig

Neil A. Quig, 78, of Hastings, NE died on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at the CHI Health Heart Institute in Lincoln, NE.

Memorial services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at Apfel Funeral Home in Hastings. Pastor Joel Remmers will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM on Tuesday, May 27th at Apfel Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Eagles Club.

He was born on January 20, 1947 to Leslie and Loraine (Harms) Quig in Oxford, NE. He grew up in Oxford and graduated from Oxford High School. He entered the Army on April 26, 1966 and served during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on April 25, 1969. He was united in marriage to Patricia Jungert on January 5, 1973 at the First St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Hastings, NE. Afterwards the couple lived in Hastings where Neil worked as the head mechanic at the Hastings Power Plant.

He was a member of the Eagles Club and the VFW. He enjoyed hunting, dancing, following around his kids and grandchildren to all their activities, and working on old cars – especially his ’29 Model A.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; son, Andy (Jen) Quig; grandchildren: Taylor, Parker, MacKenzie and Avery Quig; and sister Lynn Laballe.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Neil Avery Quig Jr., and his brother, Allen Quig.
