Nancy was born on May 6, 1936 in Natick, Massachusetts, to Chester T. and Alta B. (Cochrane) Robbins. Her family moved to Nebraska in 1943 and made their home in Hastings, NE. She attended schools in Natick and Hastings, graduating from Hastings High. She then went on to Hastings College and earned her BA in English, Speech and Secondary Education. She began her teaching career in Ogallala in 1958.
She married Warren D. Rodgers in 1959, and in 1961 moved to Grand Island. Along with raising three children, at various points in her life, she taught school, supervised the Senior High computer lab, was an academic aide, receptionist at the YWCA, secretary at Messiah Lutheran Church, secretary at Knickrehm School, and taught summer school English. She was a Girl Scout leader, board member of the Goldenrod Girl Scout Council, and a past board member of VCA.
In the last few years, she made many new friends in the residents and staff at Tiffany Square. She enjoyed her bingo days and exercise classes. Some of her favorite past-times included watching Hallmark movies, coloring, crossword puzzles, and using “that hand held computer” for shopping. Her most prize possession though were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Andrews, and Robyn (Don) Mays; son, Timothy Rodgers; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Bette Brown.
