Mary Laverne Herbek

Mary LaVerne Herbek, 96, of Hastings passed away June 2, 2023. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 AM Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Deweese, NE with Father Jamie Hottovy celebrating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Lawrence, NE. Apfel Funeral Home Hastings is in charge of arrangements. Mary LaVerne was born August 11, 1926, to Joseph and Mary (Grabenschroer) Krebsbach in Lawrence, NE. She married Frank Herbek on June 1, 1948, and resided in Deweese. Mary was a homemaker and later the postmaster in Deweese.

Survivors include her son, Robert (Jan) Herbek; grandchildren: Sara E. Herbek, Emily (Archie) Frezell, Christopher (Sarah) Herbek, Brett (Brittani) Herbek; great grandchildren: Rylee, Major, Brighton, and Tate; and daughter-in-law, Jean Herbek.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; son, Dr. Eugene N. Herbek; and siblings: Victor, Ralph, Wilfred, George, Josephine, Irene, Stephane, Helena, and Sister Kathleen.
