Manivanh Manivong, 60, of Grand Island died Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at CHI St. Francis. She passed peacefully surrounded by her family after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Funeral service will be at 2:30pm on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Apfel Funeral Home with the Buddhist Monks officiating. A private family burial will be at a later date. Manivanh was born on December 2, 1964 in Vientiane, Laos to Saiwai Sihalad and Bouarong Phenphom. She grew up in Vientiane and moved to Grand Island in 1992. She married the love of her life, Khomsanh Manivong in 1982. Together they have three children: Somnouk, Saysavanh and Daravanh.
For over 30 years, Manivanh worked at Monfort/JBS Swift. She enjoyed shopping, cooking and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister: Intong Sihalad and Thongban Souvanaseng; brother-in- law Patthana Manivong and sister-in-law Kongmany Manivong.
Manivanh is survived by her husband Khomsanh; children, all of Grand Island: Somnouk (Kham) Manivong, Saysavanh Manivong, Daravanh (Marissa) Huszti; grandchildren: Dalton, Kaitlin, Kelsey, and Cooper Anonh; her siblings, all of Laos: Somsavanh Sihalad, Somchan Sihalad, Somphavan Sihalad, and Somvang Sihalad; Brothers and sisters-in-law: Somchay (Thatsany) Manivong, Vilavanh (Neuang) Manivong, Somchit (Kolakan) Manivong, Somkith (Kongmoun) Manivong, Vatthana (Toukta) Manivong, Phanomphone (Phommachanh) Chanhdara, and sister-in-law Thonglam Manivong, all of Grand Island; and many nieces and nephews.
