Linda G Wolff

Linda Wolff, 79, of Grand Island died February 1, 2024, at Country House in Grand Island.   Memorial service will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. Linda Grace Wolff made her entrance on life’s grand stage on March 7, 1944, the youngest of five children born to Melvin and Fern Wells in Grand Island, NE. She took her final curtain call on February 1, 2024, having lived a full life centered around a deep-seated faith and the high school students she was privileged to guide and to teach.

After graduation from Hastings College, Linda and her husband, Gene, taught in the English department of Kingman High School. She soon added the responsibilities of being a drama coach to her duties. Linda brought her elegant posture and stage presence to her classroom as well as the solid mid-western values she learned from her parents and teachers at Trinity Lutheran School.

Linda retired after three decades of service as a teacher and guidance counselor but stayed busy hiking, singing in the choir at Grace Lutheran Church, cooking her famous “roast beast” for friends and making several extended trips to the British Isles.

When illness finally slowed her down, Linda was cared for by the dedicated staff of Country House in Grand Island. The family is grateful for their tender, compassionate care which eased her transition from life to life.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Fern Wells and her siblings, Neal, Gene, Bob, and Janis.  She is survived and missed by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
