Larry L.M. Sorgenfrei

Larry L.M. Sorgenfrei, 84, of Grand Island, NE passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at CHI Health St. Francis.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at Trinity Lutheran with Pastor Adam Snoberger officiating. Burial will follow in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 PM on Monday, January 19th at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island.

Larry was born on October 17, 1941 in Grand Island, NE to Oscar Sr. and Mildred (Petzoldt) Sorgenfrei. He grew up in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1960. He was united in marriage to Margaret Cosner on June 25, 1971 in Grand Island. The couple lived in Grand Island where he held various jobs as a bookkeeper, construction, owner/operator driving truck, and as a warehouse manager.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran and the Platte Duetsche. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, horse racing, and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his four sons and daughters in law, Kevin D. & Susan Sorgenfrei of Kearney; Michael L & Theresa Sorgenfrei of Omaha; Bradley J. & Tobby Sorgenfrei of Phillips; Mark L.M. & Jody Sorgenfrei of Alda; one daughter & son in law, Penny A. & Rob Evans of Phillips; 14 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; brother, Daryl & JoAnn Sorgenfrei of Doniphan; sister, Joan & Elroy Schmidt of Grand Island; and sister-in-law, Harriet Sorgenfrei of Grand Island.

He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife Margaret, and brothers, Oscar Jr. and Bob Sorgenfrei.
