Larry W. Lambrecht

Aurora, Colorado

Larry W. Lambrecht, 80, of Aurora, CO, was called home by his Lord and Savior on April 28,

2026 in Castle Rock, CO. He was born on April 30, 1945 in Hastings, NE to Waldemar (Shorty)

and Maxine (Ohlman) Lambrecht, was baptized at Grace Lutheran Church in Wood River, NE,

and confirmed at the same church.

He attended Wood River High School in Wood River, NE, graduating in 1963. He subsequently

attended Hastings College in Hastings, NE , graduating in 1967. He married Sheryl Smith on

December 30, 1967 in Hastings, NE, and they remained married until his passing.

Larry served in the United States Army as a military policeman and game warden and was

stationed at Fort Carson, Co.

Larry had a number of careers over his lifetime and started his working life as a cameraman for

KHAS TV in Hastings, NE. He went on to found and operate Wood River Concrete in Wood

River, NE, and during that time also operated a number of gas stations in the area. A career

change led him into the home fire alarm business where he worked as a salesman for a number

of years. Larry obtained his private pilot’s license at age 16 and his next career led him into the

aviation industry, where he worked as a charter pilot and eventually transitioned into the

aviation insurance field. This transition led to a family move from Nebraska to Colorado, where

he lived the remainder of his life. His last occupation was as a designer and salesman for the

family construction business in Colorado.

Larry’s hobbies were many, the most notable being his love for Harley Davidson motorcycles

and his ownership of several bikes. He also loved spending time at his cabin in the Indian Peaks

Wilderness of Colorado, a place that he and his sons built together. Larry was an accomplished

musician and played guitar, keyboards and trombone, and was a member of a number of rock

and roll bands in the Hastings area including the Kopi Katz. His love for music was passed on to

his sons Justin and Brandon, and he served as a band manager for them in the early 1990’s as

they were trying to make their way in the industry. He enjoyed outdoor activities including

hunting and fishing, and was an avid NASCAR fan. He was also very active in various churches

throughout his life, serving on the Board of Elders at Christ Lutheran Church in Juniata, NE for a

number of years.

He is survived by his wife Sheryl Lambrecht of Aurora, CO, son Justin Lambrecht of Castle Rock,

CO, daughter Tiffany Edmondson (Jeff) of Hastings, NE, son Brandon Lambrecht of Aurora, CO,

sister-in-law Harriet Lambrecht of Lincoln, NE, six grandchildren and one great grandchild. He

was preceded in death by his parents, son Timothy Lambrecht, brother Galen Lambrecht,

brother-in-law Gary Smith and sister-in-law Marcia Smith.

A Celebration of Life for Larry will be held at 11:00 am on July 11, 2026 at Apfel Funeral Home,

505 North Bellevue Avenue, Hastings, NE 68901. A light lunch will follow the service as well as

a private inurnment ceremony at Concordia Cemetery in Juniata, NE at 3:00 pm.

The family requests casual attire at his Celebration of Life, preferably very loud and colorful

tropical themes as he was very fond of this style in his later years.
