Koungkham Sayaphommy, 80, of Grand Island, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, October1, 2026.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. Visitation will be held from 4pm - 6pm on Monday, October 5, 20026 at Apfel Funeral Home.

Koungkham was born on January 29, 1946 in Pakse, Laos to Symmoune and Bounlome Chanthalome. He spent his early years in Pakse and later lived in Vientiane, Laos.

He was united in marriage to Deng in Thailand. Together, they eventually made their home in Grand Island, Nebraska, where they built their life and raised their family.

Koungkham was a devoted and hardworking man who dedicated 45 years of service to JBS Swift. His many years of commitment reflected the strength, perseverance, and dedication with which he approached his life and his responsibility to his family.

He is survived by his wife, Deng Sayaphommy and his son, Sunney Sayaphommy. Koungkham will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and all those lives he touched.
