Khamlay Khanthavixay

Khamlay Khanthavixay, 67, of Grand Island died on Sunday, January 25, 2026 at CHI Health St. Francis.

Funeral services will be 2 PM Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Friday, January 30th at Apfel Funeral Home. Burial of ashes will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.

He was born on August 5, 1958 in Vientiane, Laos to Khamphan and Keo Khanthavixay. He grew up in Vientiane. He was united in marriage to Phonesay on January 12, 2019 in Grand Island, NE. The couple lived in Grand Island where he was employed by JBS Swift. He had also worked for Leon Plastics and Chief Industries.

He was a member of the Buddha Metta Phaaphayaram Lao Buddhist Temple.

He is survived by his wife, Phonesay Khanthavixay; sons, Peter Khanthavixay, Franky Khanthavixay, and Thanay Khanthavixay; his daughter, Sandie Khanthavixay; brothers: Vanh Khanthavixay, Khanh Khanthavixay, Viengsay Khanthavixay, and Vanhsy Khanthavixay; and his sisters, Tangsavan Saycocie, and Thongbay Khanthavixay.

He was preceded in death by Somchanh Khanthavixay.
