Julie M Epperly

May 25, 1937 — November 15, 2023

Julie M. Epperly, 86, left this world to be with her Lord on November 15, 2023. She had family and friends by her side at the Grand Island Regional Medical Center. As per her wish, cremation was chosen. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with family.

Julie was born on May 25, 1937 in Akron, Iowa to John Norcross Thatcher and Vera Lucille Adams. She grew up on the farm near Akron and attended the Akron school system. She attended Minnesota Bible College in Minneapolis, MN at the same time as Bill Miller (a lifelong friend of Julie and Dick), who became a professor at Nebraska Christian College in Norfolk, NE. Three of her sons attended NCC when Bill was a professor there.

She met her husband, Dick, at a grocery store/ice cream parlor there in Minneapolis. They were married on May 10, 1957 in Akron, Iowa. Dick and Julie lived in Iowa twice, Minnesota, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and then Grand Island, NE. Each of the four boys was born in a different state. Corrie was born in Minnesota, Mark in Oklahoma, Tom in Iowa and Darin in Nebraska. Julie was a homemaker but did work a couple places for a few years after the boys were older.

Dick and Julie were charter members of Third City Christian Church of Grand Island. They later became members of the Stolley Park Church of Christ in Grand Island. They had many friends from both congregations.

Julie very much enjoyed whenever any of her  family visited, called, messaged or texted her. She also did share many pictures and videos of her grandchildren and great grandchildren to family and friends. Julie babysat her granddaughter, Jasmine, until she started first grade while mom and dad worked. They became very close and made many memories together. Julie enjoyed spending a lot of hours painting with her friend, Kathy Boggs. Julie really liked castles, lighthouses and clowns. Many people asked for her advice on a lot of things. She was a strong Christian woman.

Julie was preceded in death by her husband, Dick, in April of 2017; six of her seven siblings and their spouses; the last brother-in-law, Robert Epperly , her parents and grandparents: Lewis H. and Elizabeth (Paice) Adams and Isaac B. and Sarah Jane (Mitchell) Thatcher.

She is survived by her four boys and spouses: Corrie & Julie of Albany, Oregon & his four children - Chad & wife, Katrina Renee and children, Chloe, Hannah, Andrew & Christopher; Kristin and her son, Jordan; Tyler & Kelela; and Tiffany & husband, Bryse Greene and children, Nash & Ivy -- Mark & Doreen of Marquette, Nebraska and daughter, Jasmine - Tom & Kristen of Ashland, Kentucky & his four girls - September & husband, Bryan and their three girls, Amelia, Violet & Penny; Sarah & husband, Nathon and their children Elijah & Lydia; Courtney and her two children, Artie & Scarlet; and his fourth daughter, Haley - Darin & Jan of Norfolk, Nebraska and their two children, Kaytlin & Jackson - and one sister, Ruth of North Carolina; brother-in-law and wife, James & Marion Epperly.
