John William Stitt

John William Stitt, 77, of Wood River, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026 at the Oaks in Central City.

To honor John’s wishes, cremation will take place and there will be no services.

John was born on January 22, 1949 in Hastings, NE to Detlor and Laura (Rath) Stitt. He grew up in Hastings and received his education from Hastings Public Schools and Hastings Community College.

He was united in marriage to Robin Stitt on May 20, 1995 in Hastings, NE. After which the couple lived in Hastings, Ayr and Wood River where he worked as a realtor, broker and musician.

He was a member of St. Marks Episcopal Church, the VFW and the Eagles. He enjoyed playing in local bands since he was 14 years old, riding his Harley and taking trips to the mountains. He especially loved visiting his children and grandchildren. He was an avid skier and did trick skiing most of his life.

He is survived by his wife, Robin Stitt; sons, Adam Stitt, Aaron Stitt, and Eric Stitt; daughters, Amy Bishop and Molly Schmit; ten grandchildren; and brothers, Tom Stitt, David Stitt, and Donald Stitt.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
