John Robert Sink Jr., 75, of Hastings, NE died on July 18, 2026, in Kearney, NE. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2026 at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Hastings with Father Craig Clinch officiating. A private family interment will be held at Nebraska Veteran’s Cemetery in Grand Island.

He was born on September 27, 1950, in McCook, NE to John R. Sink and Norma (Rogers) Sink. He grew up in Beloit, KS and received his education at Beloit High School. He received his bachelors at Kansas State University. He also graduated from Fort Hays State and received his Masters and a PhD in Psychology.
He entered the U.S. Army in 1972 and served during the Vietnam War. On February 3, 1973, was united in marriage to Diane Sekavec.
He was a lifetime member of the Eagles Club and a member of the Roman Catholic Church. He loved sports, and was always cheering for the New York Yankees and Kansas State University. He enjoyed golfing and had a hole-in-one in his 40’s. He loved camping and hiking, and climbed Long’s Peak in Colorado in his 50’s. As his disease progressed he wrote the book “”We Can Save The World under a “Twain Name” of Trebor Knis which involved quantum physics and religion.
He is survived by his wife: Diane; daughters: Dani Sharp of MT, JoVanna Leigh Eisenbarth, of NH; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Barbara Ray.
