Jack Lee Nelson

Jack L. Nelson, 90, of Grand Island, NE died on February 19, 2025, at CHI St. Francis. A Graveside Memorial Service with military honors will be 10 A.M. Thursday, April 10, 2025, at the Grand Island City Cemetery. Online Condolences may be left at www.apfelfuneralhome.com.

He was born on July 28, 1934, at Grand Island, NE to Glen Derby Nelson and Florence Misner. Jack grew up in Grand Island and received his education through Grand Island and then on to Kearney State College. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Weiman in 1955 at Grand Island, NE. After which the couple lived in Grand Island. Jack entered the U.S Army in 1957 and served during the Vietnam War. He was then honorably discharged and retired in 1977. Jack also lived in Germany, Kansas, Oklahoma at various times throughout his career. After retirement Jack took to woodworking and worked for Stoltenberg Cabinets.

Jack is survived by his daughters: Cathy (Gene) McCloud and Bonnie Preisendorf; granddaughter, Andrea Simpson; and two great grandchildren: Addie Miller and Pacer Simpson.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sons: Michael Nelson and Robert Nelson; brothers, Clifford Nelson and Glen Nelson; and nephew, Rodney Nelson.
