Howard E. Tracy, 92, of Grand Island died Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Tabitha at Prairie Commons in Grand Island.

Mr. Tracy’s wishes were for cremation at the time of his passing.  There will be no service. 

Apfel Funeral Home – Grand Island is assisting the family.

Memorials in his name are suggested to the University of Nebraska Foundation, College of Law.

Howard E. Tracy was born September 14, 1931, in Omaha, NE to Stark and Estella (Kitchen) Tracy.  He grew up and received his education in Aurora, IL.  He then attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, NE where he earned his law degree.

Mr. Tracy served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in May of 1956.

He married Helen A. Patterson in Harrodsburg, KY.  They later made their home in Grand Island, NE where Mr. Tracy practiced business and estate law for over 50 years.

While at the University of Nebraska College of Law, Mr. Tracy was a member of Phi Delta Phi and the Order of the Coif.  He was a former Elder of the First Presbyterian Church, former President of the Grand Island Rotary Club, Past Potentate of the Central States Shrine Association, member of Tehama Temple, former Chair of the Hall County Republicans, and former President of Riverside Golf Club.

Mr. Tracy was an instrument-rated pilot and enjoyed growing vegetables in his garden.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Tracy; three daughters, LeeAnn Jensen, Kay Tracy and Mary (Michael) Draper; nine grandchildren, Jack, John, and Margaret Wagoner, Cody (Aileen), Harrison, and Elle Draper, Jaden (Brenan) Sedoff, and Michael (Lauren) Jensen; and two great-grandchildren, Lucien and Dash Jensen.
