Gregg Wayne Schwartz, 62 of Omaha, formerly of Shelton died Friday, March 14, 2014 at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha.
Services will be at 10 am on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shelton with Rev. James Janovec officiating. Burial will be at the Shelton Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 5 to 7:30 pm at the church in Shelton with a 7:30 pm prayer service. Memorials are suggested to the familys choice. Apfel Funeral Home of Wood River is caring for the family.
Gregg was born on February 13, 1952 in Grand Island, the son of August and Faye (Behrens) Schwartz. He grew up in Wood River where he attended elementary school before moving to
Boelus. Gregg graduated from Centura High School in 1970.
Gregg married Sharon Cyboron on September 11, 1971 in Rockville, NE. The couple lived in Shelton where he worked for Gibbon Pack. He also lived in Dakota Dunes, SD, from 1997 until 2001 where he was employed by IBP. They then moved to Alexandria, MN in 2002 where Gregg was employed by Rosen Meat Group. In 2006, they moved to Omaha where they have lived since. While in Omaha, Gregg worked at XL Four Star until 2011. He was currently self- employed as a Commodities Trader at the time of his death.
Gregg was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shelton. He enjoyed boating, fishing, golfing, hunting, watching football, the Food Network and the History Channel. Gregg lived life to the fullest, he was especially dedicated to his dear friends and his loving family.
Survivors include his wife Sharon Schwartz of Omaha, three daughters and sons in-law; Sandra K. and Todd Sutton of Shelton, Kelli R. and Nathan Reeder of Vacaville, CA, and Lori A. and Adam Foote of Ridgefield, WA, six grandchildren, and a brother and sister-in-law; Richard and Deb Schwartz of Grand Island.
Gregg was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and a brother-in-law Jim Hulme.
