Gerald G. "Baby Bear" Blanchard

Gerald G. Blanchard, 66, of Hastings died on April 10, 2025 in Idaho Falls, ID. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Hastings at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Blue Valley Cemetery near Ayr, NE. Memorials are suggested to the family. Apfel Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Gerald was born on November 12, 1958 in Hastings, NE to Gerald "Papa Bear" and Genevieve (Douglas) Blanchard. He grew up in Hastings and received his education at Hastings Senior High School. He was employed by Cliff Viessman Trucking, Inc. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was lovingly known as “Baby Bear” to his family.

He is survived by his son, Cody Blanchard; daughter, Kelsey Wolfe; stepdaughter, Jessica Hammond; nine grandchildren; sisters: Joan Kinsley, Janet Cutino, Doreyn Hacker, Danita Boutin; and many nieces and nephews.
