Gala Ruth (Williams) Hulme, 85, of Shelton NE passed away on Wednesday, May 14th, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Memorial services will be 10:30 AM on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the First Baptist Church in Cairo, NE with Pastor Jack Boling Officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 7 PM on Tuesday at the church. Gala was born on January 14th, 1940 in Anadarko, OK. She was the 7th child of 12 children born to Sheldon Gatewood Williams and Thelma Ruth (Elms) Williams.
Gala graduated from Anadarko High School in 1958 and was working as a bookkeeper when she met the love of her life, Thomas Cecil Hulme while he was stationed at Ft. Sill in OK. They were united in marriage April 7th, 1960, in Lawton, OK.
They made their home near Cairo, NE, where they farmed and raised livestock. Gala put her meticulous record keeping skills to use by doing all the farm’s bookkeeping, as well as for various businesses throughout the years. She also managed a local convenience store for 9 years.
Gala had great pride in her home and her family. She was a wonderful wife and mother. She was a great cook, sewed, helped with the farm work and livestock, all while raising her children.
Gala was a member of the Cairo United Methodist Church.

Her children: Vicki Gaye (Hulme) Stahl of Grand Island, Paula Hulme (Travis Eide) of Grand Island, Thomas Cecil Hulme Jr. (Joann Packer) of Shelton, Mary Beth (Hulme) Fischer (Bruce Fischer) of Grand Island, and David Boroff of Grand Island.
Her siblings: Bill Williams (LaVon), Larry Williams, and Debra Gallamore, all of OK.
Brother-in-law Fred Harb of Lincoln and sister-in-law Jeanette Hulme of AZ.
Eight grandchildren: Becca Stahl (Heather Stahl-Victory), Rachel Stahl (Anthony Wyatt), Krystal Boroff, Ryan Hulme (Kylie), Tyler Hulme (Lindsey), Hanna Kirsch (Brent), Dan Fischer, and Levi Fischer. Twenty-one great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Gala was preceded in death by her parents, Sheldon and Thelma Williams, her husband Thomas C. Hulme, her father in-law and mother in-law Cecil and Evelyn Hulme, and her grandson David Boroff Jr, as well as siblings Sheldon, Robert, Kenneth, Gary Joe, Ronald, David, Janet McCullough and infant sister Betty.
