Francis C. “Frank Spot” Spotanski, 77, of Shelton died Thursday, August 27, 2026, at CHI Bergen Mercy in Omaha. Memorial service will be 10:30 AM Friday, September 11, 2026, at Shelton United Methodist Church with Pastors Rachel Nkonge and Dave Mendyk officiating. Burial will follow at the Shelton Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Thursday at Shelton United Methodist Church. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
Frank was born on September 19, 1948, in Loup City, NE to Bruno and Janet (Whitehead) Spotanski. He grew up and received his education at a country school and Loup City High School.
He entered the US Army on June 19, 1968 and was honorably discharged on June 18, 1970 having earned a bronze star medal. After which he worked as a ranch hand and at the gas station in Loup City. The “Best job” was as a lineman with NPPD for 35 years.
On February 14, 2010, Frank married Linda at the Shelton United Methodist Church. After which the couple lived in Shelton.
Frank loved being outdoors and doing outdoor things including hunting, fishing,camping, golfing, and riding his motor tricycle. He was able to built or fix almost everything. His greatest love was his grandchildren.
Survivors include: wife, Linda of Shelton; children: Annette (Martin) Neilen of Gibbon, NE, Cynthia (Michael) Hawn of Cozad, NE, stepchildren: Jodi (Rob) Sturghill of Colorado Springs, CO, Jessica (Jim) Camplin of Grand Island, NE; grandchildren: Amanda (Justin) Howell, Abrielle (Levi) White, Kyler (Emily) Meredith, Riley Meredith, Sayer Hawn, Sage Hawn; step grandchildren: Sarah Holt, Tevin (Sydney) Holt, Tyler Sturghill, Alex Sturghill, Kaitlyn Camplin, Kinsley Camplin; eight great grandchildren and one on the way; five step great grandchildren; siblings: MaryAnn Nelson of Hastings, NE, Connie Spotanski of Broken Bow, NE, Cathy (Harlan) Dusin of Phillipsburg, KS, Martha Spotanski of Broken Bow, NE, Jerry (Linda) Spotanski of Plattsmouth, NE, Fred Spotanski of Loup City, NE, Alice Connley of Broken Bow, NE, Bob Spotanski of Marquette, NE.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joseph Spotanski; brothers-in-law: Terry Connley and Darald Nelson.
