Florence (Domeier) Schroder, 99, of Good Samaritan Village passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 1925. Funeral services will be 11 AM Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Adam Snoberger officiating. Visitation will be an hour prior to the start of the service. She will be buried next to her husband Earl at the Grand Island City Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated to Trinity Lutheran Church or School. Apfel Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Florence was born on a farm near Grafton, NE on July 22, 1925, to Anton and Mayme (Everts) Domeier. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church at Grafton. She attended school at District #61 through the 8th grade and graduated from Geneva High School in 1942. She taught school for three years at District #61.
She married Earl W. Schroder of Geneva on October 27, 1946. They lived in Grand Island while Earl attended Grand Island Business College. They lived in Kearney for 29 years, Elm Creek for four years, and then retired back to Grand Island.
In Kearney Florence was employed by the City of Kearney as the Senior Citizen Director. She was active at Zion Lutheran Church serving on the Alter Guild, Concordia Society and taught Sunday School. She was also a 4H Leader for 15 years. In Grand Island she was active on Alter Guild and the Lutheran Laymen League at Trinity Lutheran.
Her hobbies included sewing, cooking, golfing, bowling, crocheting, and playing bridge. She enjoyed Husker sports, attending sporting events of grandkids and great-grandchildren.
Faith and family were extremely important to Florence.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl; daughter, Sue Bolin; a sister and three brothers; and three nephews.
Survivors are her two children: Connie (Don) Coatman of Tucson, AZ and Stan Schroder of Grand Island; son-in-law, Jim Bolin of Gibbon; seven grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and many friends.
The family wishes to acknowledge her many friends and thank the kind staff at Good Samaritan Village.
