Diana Lynn Westby

Diana L. Westby, 76, of Hasting, NE died on Friday, May 30, 2025 at Providence Place in Hastings, NE.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at the Apfel Funeral Home in Hastings with Brandon Bachle, CFC officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Black Hills National Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.

Diana was born on June 9, 1948 in Sturgis, SD to Charles and Deloris (Westphal) Wagner. She grew up in Onida, SD and received her education from the National College of Business in Rapid City, SD. She was united in marriage to Curtis Westby on July 5, 1969. Afterwards the couple lived in Kimball, NE. They had also lived in Scottsbluff, NE and retired to Oelrichs, SD.

She was a member of the Prairie View United Methodist Church in Smithwick, SD. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, crafting and ceramics. Her greatest accomplishment was her family and she loved her grandchildren above all.

She is survived by her husband, Curtis Westby; son, Steven Westby; daughter, Lisa (Dan) Wicht; grandchildren, Austin (Andrea) Russell, Brittany (Broderick) Strait, Kayla Westby, Dalton (Megan) Wicht, and Cooper Wicht; great grandchildren, Kase and Kate Russell, and Quentin Strait; brothers, Robert (Chris) Wagner, Rick (Nancy) Wagner, Randy (Kris) Wagner; sister, Gwendolyn Adams; brothers-in-law, Doyle (Sharon) Westby, Dallas (Janice) Westby and Clair (Susan) Westby; and sister-in-law, Jean Lawler.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers-in-law, Jerrie Adams, Myron Westby, Merlin Westby, James Westby Jerry Westby, Carroll Westby, and Warren Westby, and sister-in-law, Linda Kling.
