Delwyn was born on May 20, 1961, to Lee “Butch” and Jolene (O’Brien) Bruhn. Dewey grew up in Wood River and graduated from Wood River Rural High School in 1980. He lived there most of his life except for a few years at Johnson Lake where he was able to go fishing whenever he pleased. If you were fortunate enough to go out on the lake with him, you very seldom came home without fish.
He was an avid football fan, loving the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Washington Redskins, never accepting the name change. Dewey sold the farm and moved to Grand Island in August after his health declined and he couldn’t take care of it. Dewey was full of life and never went anywhere without knowing someone. He made friends wherever he went.
Dewey is survived by his significant other, Alison Bruha; best friends: Scott (Mary) Sahling and family, Gail Struebing, and Chris (Denise) Callahan and sons. He is also survived by his uncle, Jim O’Brien; cousins: Tonia (Tim) Luschei, Denise O’Brien and sons; sister, Cheryl (Glen) Husack and children; his second family, the Hadenfeldts of the Wood River and Cairo area; as well as the many friends he made, especially his ‘angels’.
He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents: Homer and Mae Bruhn, Harold and Mary O’Brien; cousin, Ed O’Brien; aunt, Reva O'Brien; his faithful dog, Homer; and many other pets and friends.
