David L. Harrifeld

July 28, 1942 — December 30, 2025

Hastings

David L. Harrifeld went to his heavenly home on December 30, 2025, at Mary Lanning Healthcare. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his family.

Private family services with burial at Parkview Cemetery will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Peace Lutheran Church in Hastings, NE.

David was born July 28, 1942 in Red Cloud, NE to Chris and Elma (Stroh) Harrifeld. He was baptized on September 26, 1942 at Salem Lutheran Church south of Rosemont, NE and was confirmed May 20, 1956 at Zion Lutheran Church in Red Cloud, NE. He graduated from Blue Hill High School in 1961. David grew up on the family farm south of Blue Hill and farmed with his parents until they retired. After graduating, he moved to Hastings and met his wife, Eileen. Throughout his life, David held a variety of roles, including maintenance and home construction, real estate agent, owning a painting business, and trucking for Werner Construction for 25 years, which he greatly enjoyed as he was able to view the countryside. He was truly a jack of all trades.

David was united in marriage to Eileen on May 30, 1965 at Zion Lutheran Church in Red Cloud. They were blessed with 3 children: Lisa, Lonnie, and Chris. David and Eileen celebrated 60 amazing years of love, life, and memories this year.

David was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandpa of 7, and a great grandpa to 8. Always ready to help his children and grandchildren, there was little that David couldn’t do, as he was truly a man of many talents. He loved all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren deeply and treasured the time spent with them, enjoying every activity of theirs that kept him and Eileen busy. He took pleasure in gardening, woodworking, painting/refinishing, and he was always tinkering with something. Continuing in his fashion of helping others, David generously donated many gallons of blood in his lifetime to local blood banks. He was a longtime member of Peace Lutheran Church.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 years, Eileen. Daughter, Lisa (Bill) Miller of Upland; Son, Chris (Sheila) Harrifeld of Lincoln. Grandchildren and great grandchildren, Chelsey (Miller) Drudik (Cody) and their children Caisley and Cartney of Minden; Mariah (Miller) Pavlicek (Eric) of Minden; Ashley (Miller) Forster and her children Cailee Miller, Grayden and Trace of Minden; Brittney (Miller) Younkin (Kyle) and their children Lenyn, Leighton and Levi of Lincoln; Cassie, Jake and Jenna Thimgan all of Lincoln. Brothers, Elton Harrifeld and Dean Harrifeld, and many nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his son, Lonnie and his parents; Chris and Elma Harrifeld.
