Daryl “Teed” W. White, 88 of Grand Island, NE passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022 at the Litzenberg Memorial Long Term Care Center in Central City.
To honor his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
Daryl was born on August 3, 1933 in Doniphan, NE to Ralph and Alta (Robinson) White. Attending school and graduating from Doniphan High School in 1952 before moving to Grand Island. On August 10, 1952 he married Joyce Sundstrom in Doniphan. The couple lived in Grand Island where he owned and operated DW White Ceramic Tile Co.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and attending his grandchildren’s school and sporting events.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Kellee (Marty) Schwieger; grandchildren: Derek Schwieger, Stephanee (Colin Appel) Schwieger, Travis (Heather) Meier, Tucker (Erica) Meier, Tandra (James) Rodriguez and Treat (Laura Parkes) Meier; grandchildren, Layne, Kendall, and Grayson Meier, and Emersyn Rodriguez.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joyce White; daughter, Kimberly (Mitch) Meier; brothers, Kenneth (Bernadine) White, Gerald (Merideth) White and Merle “Pete” (Helen) White; sister, Mary Collinson and nephew, Robert “Bob” Collinson.
He will be fondly remembered as “Grandpa Teed”. Always making jokes and teasing all of the grandkids. The nickname “Teed” arose from him being the varsity quarterback at Doniphan High School as a 9th grader and making many touchdowns. The name “Teed” started as “Touchdown White” before becoming “T.D. White” and quickly morphed into “Teed White” the athlete, ceramic tile guy, and the best dad and grandpa any of us could have asked for.
