Dale Franklin “Gunner” Moul, 93, of Grand Island, NE passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026 at Tiffany Square.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island with Brandon Bachle officiating. Visitation will be an hour prior to the start of the services. A private Burial of ashes will take place in the Fairmont Cemetery.
Dale was born on February 24, 1933 in Fairmont, NE to Lew B. and Ninette (McCashland) Moul. He grew up near Fairmont and graduated from Fairmont High School in 1951. He joined the Navy in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1957. He was very proud of his service and loved to tell stories about being a “Tin Can” sailor - having spent two years aboard the destroyer, USS Chandler.
He was united in marriage to Lenora Taylor on September 7, 1958 in Fairmont. The couple lived near Fairmont on the family farm. In 2003, the couple retired and moved to Wood River. After Nora’s passing in 2009, Dale moved to Grand Island..
Dale was a member of the VFW , and the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, being outside, and spending time with family. He had a lifetime passion for firearms of any type and was well known by local gun shops.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Darcy & Darcy Moul, their children Benson (Jacie) Moul and Lauren (Tyler) Valasek, great grandchildren, Tyson, Kennedy, Quinn & Maysen. Daughter Michelle (Brian) Zimmerli, their children, Trapper Bryson and great granddaughter, Daphne, Sawyer Bryson and great-granddaughter Lenora; daughter Melanie (Randy) Ehmen, their children, Blake (Joelle) Ehmen and Brianne (Ryan) Kelly, great grandchildren Ryder, Aleigha, and Masen; daughter Alison Bruha, her children Sean Shaffer, Dean Shaffer, great grandson Joey, Ashley (Andrew) Marquez, great grandchildren Olivia and Julian; sister Betty (Larry) Ackland; and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lenora; brother, Don; son-in-law, Kent Bruha; grandson, Colt Bryson; and great granddaughter Emersyn Kelly.
Gunner’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff at Tiffany Square for their incredible kindness, patience, and compassion.
