Christina D. Peterson, 48, of Grand Island, NE received her beautiful wings on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE. Memorial services will be at 10:30AM on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island, with Pastor Andy Springer officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Grand Island City Cemetery. A gathering of friends and family will be on Tuesday from 5-7PM at Apfel Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date. Christina entered this world on July 29, 1977, in Grand Island, NE to Walter and Maxine (Baltazor) Peterson. She went to school at Howard, Wood River Jr. High, and then graduated from Grand Island Senior High School. Christina was a Special Olympic athlete for years. She competed in swimming, track and field, bowling, and bocce.

During her lifetime she was employed at Burger King, Subway, MNIS, Mosaic and finally at Duet as a SLP. She enjoyed working and caring for people.

Her son, Michael, was the love and light of her life. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with him and their Sunday Selfies.

Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Maxine Peterson; brother, William (Bill) Peterson; son, Michael Peterson; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins: Kenny and Sandy Baltazor of Taylor, NE, Donald and Debra Baltazor, Philip and Rita Baltazor, Anna Baltazor, Becky Baltazor, Dennis Baltazor all of Salina, KS, Dale and Carol Baltazor of Texas, Albert and Julia West of Topeka, KS, Bradley and Ron West of Independence, MO, Lucinda Peterson of Papillion, NE, Joan and Marc Lovendal of Morganville, KS, and Kathy Wilson of Hastings, NE.

She is preceded in death by her dad, Walter; brother, Jon Michael; sister, Renee, and grandparents: William and Doris Peterson, Donald Baltazor, Charlotte Johnshon, and Carl and Gertrude West.
