Charlene Kay Hernandez went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 7, 2023. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be sent to the family in care of Jason Weinmaster, 10206 Willmington Drive, Summerset, SD 57718.

Charlene was born January 22, 1962 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Robert and Mary Lucille Naegele and was the youngest sibling of five at the time. She spent most of her childhood playing with three cousins who were all boys. She was a real tomboy climbing houses, fences, farm equipment and whatever she could find to climb on. She enjoyed bike riding and swimming. Charlene attended Gering Public Schools and received her GED. She married James Weinmaster and had three sons, Jeremiah, Joshua and Jason. She lived in Omaha then moved back to Scottsbluff where she met the love of her life, Jesse Hernandez and were married in August 2006.

Charlene was a care provider for her mom and stepdad until her mom passed away in 2009 and started her nursing career at Beverly Nursing Home then moved to Grand Island. She worked at the Grand Island Veterans Home, Lebensraun and Crown Point as a medication aide. Charlene and Jesse were baptized together and accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord on August 30, 2015. She attended several Christian concerts but her favorite was For King and Country. She had a strong love for Lord and a passion for being a medication aide. In 2020, they moved to Piedmont, SD to be closer to her son and family and continued her career in health care. She spent time in Scottsbluff with her sister, Kathy and attended Mitchell Berean Church. She worked at Home Instead, Heritage Estates and Upper Cuts before moving to Grand Island.

Survivors include her husband, Jesse Hernandez Sr., sons, Jeremiah (Felicia) Weinmaster, Joshua (Lydia) Weinmaster; Jason (Roxanne) Weinmaster; daughters, Christine Martin, stepdaughter, Anna Hernandez; sisters Rose Douville, Kathy (Glenn) Fillinger, Oral Edquist, Sandi Wilson; brother, Bill Livermont, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
