Bonnie Worley

Bonnie (Klauz) Worley, 84, formerly of Hastings, NE died on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Heritage of Sagewood in Grand Island, NE. Funeral Services will be at 10AM on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island with Reverend Beverly Hieb officiating. Visitation will be an hour prior to the start of the service. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.

Bonnie was born on July 29, 1941, in Lexington, NE, to James and Margaret (Grant) Klauz. She grew up on a farm just north of Overton, NE. She attended Overton High School, where she met and eventually married Lauren Ellingson. The couple had four children together and raised them in and around the Overton area.

Later in life, she was united in marriage to Ivan Worley in January of 2002 in Hastings, NE, after which the couple lived in Hastings for 17 years. In 2019, Bonnie and Ivan relocated to the Heritage at Sagewood retirement community in Grand Island.

Bonnie was an amazing cook and homemaker, skills she acquired growing up on the farm, tending to her younger sister, and through the loving guidance of her mother. She worked outside the home primarily as a bookkeeper for small businesses and in retail. She also received her license in cosmetology, which she practiced on a part-time basis.

Bonnie’s greatest joys in life came from spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also had a genuine passion for reading books and shared this love with her children while they were growing up. She was an avid card player and enjoyed traveling with friends and family.

She had a very kind and caring spirit and was known at Heritage for being a helpmate and friend to her fellow residents. She was loyal to the Lord Jesus Christ, our Savior, and walked with Him all the days of her life. Although she will be missed a great deal by her friends and family here in her earthly home, Heaven will rejoice in welcoming a beautiful angel.

Bonnie is survived by her four children: Randy Ellingson, Jeff (Lori) Ellingson, Kris (Tim) Harris, Shelly (Todd) Holen; eight grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sister, Charlene (George) Miller; and many special nieces and nephews.
