The Passing of a Sesquipedalian

In the immortal words of the 80’s supergroup Hall & Oates – “She’s Gone”.

Mother, matriarch, teacher and friend, Bobbie Pearson, passed away quickly in the afternoon hours of Friday, May 20th. She had recently been struggling with heart issues and succumbed to an acute failure.

Bobbie possessed many gifts and influenced those around her through her vocation as a substitute teacher, working with both gifted and challenged students alike. Her work with the school system earned her the informal titles of “Walking Dictionary” and “Word of the Day Lady”. She was happy to re-direct wayward students to copy lengthy and verbose sentences about how they would correct their errant behaviors; such as “I will ambulate to the receptacle and dispose of my refuse therein”.

She lead church youth groups; she was an author an poetess, winning local and national awards for her work. She created short stories for English as a second language textbooks. She loved to travel, paint, draw and express herself in multiple, creative ways.

As a good friend and steward of her fellow mankind, Bobbie shared her time, treasure and experience with those around her. She spent time with friends playing cards, Scrabble, swimming and in conversation. Many would agree she possessed a witty and rememberable personality.

As the matriarch of the Pearson clan, she was a loving mother to her children, Bryce, Brenae and Brandy. In addition to her own children, Bobbie and her husband, Galen, fostered, more than 20 children. The house was always welcoming to any and all.

Bobbie is survived by her children Bryce (Nadine, Chris, Kyle, Katie, Kiana) Pearson of Lincoln, Brenae (Edward, Justin) Beam of David City, and Brandy Pearson of Puyallup, Washington; she was also Grandmother to six and “GG” to five. She is also survived by brother Vincent Whiting of Vancouver, Washington. Preceded in death by husband, Galen Pearson and her parents, Roy and Betty (Kluge) Whiting.
