Betty Eileen Van Hoosen

Betty Eileen (Blume) Van Hoosen, 78, of Grand Island, Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Westfield Quality Care in Aurora, Nebraska. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 am on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island with Derek Apfel, CFC officiating. Visitation will be an hour prior to the start of the service. Burial will follow at Wiegert Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date. Online condolences may be left at www.apfelfuneralhome.com. 

Betty was born in Grand Island on July 2, 1947, to John and Irene (Pollack) Blume. 

She lived and attended schools in Grand Island. Betty married David L. VanHoosen on October 6, 1964. They had two sons, Lee and Jason.

Betty enjoyed her family, being outdoors, flowers, shopping with her sister and going to horse races. 

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Lee (Alice) Van Hoosen; grandchildren: Courtney (Nurik) Makhmudzoda and great granddaughter, Amaya, Kristen and fiancé Sam Galliart, and Katelyn; son, Jason Van Hoosen; grandchildren: Jessica Rowley and great grandchildren: Harlee and Bridger, Alexus (Jack) Wagner, Jason Jr. and Hunter; and sister Lois Barrett and friend Bill Leslie. 

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, David, and her parents John and Irene (Pollack) Blume.
