Betty Bockerman, 91, of Hastings went to her heavenly home on September 6, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Apfel Funeral Home in Hastings with Pastor Joe Bockerman officiating. Burial will follow in the Kenesaw Cemetery. Betty was born on June 17, 1934, in rural Adams County to Leland and Edna (Eighmy) Keister. Betty was one of seven children. She was raised by her paternal grandparents, Claude and Nellie Keister. She graduated from Holstein Public School.
In 1952, Betty was united in marriage to Raymond Bockerman. They had 4 sons. They farmed northwest of Prosser until 1984. They collected and sold antiques. She was very involved in the Prosser community, playing piano at various social events, and helping to put together the Prosser Centennial book. Betty worked at a number of retail stores in Hastings: Woolworths, J C Penneys, H & R Block, USDA Statisical Reporting Service, and Ben Franklin.
Left to cherish her memory are sons: Arlo (Marcia) of Palmer, Dennis of Hastings, Joe (Sue of Lynd, MN; granddaughters: Stacy Ochsner of Gothenburg and Jessica (Wayne) Herold of Tyler, MN; great grandson, Connor of Sioux Falls, SD; sisters: Lulu Schmidt of Hastings, Bonnie (Carroll) Burling of Hastings; sister-in-law, Bonnie McLeod of Juniata.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond; son, Jerry; sisters: Anna Riese and Caroline Stadler; brothers: Leland Jr. and Robert.
