Arlene Fay Hensley

Arlene Hensley, age 90, formerly of Clay Center passed away on November 11, 2025, at Harvard Rest Haven in Harvard, NE. Funeral Services will be at 10:30AM on Monday, November 17, 2025, at Apfel Funeral Home in Hastings. Burial will be at 1:30PM in the Clay Center Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 5-7PM at Apfel Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.apfelfuneralhome.com. Memorials are suggested to Good Samaritan Hospice or the family. 

Arlene Fay Stahnke was born on August 6, 1935, to Robert and Mary Ann Stahnke in Fairfield, Nebraska. The family moved to Clay Center, where she attended Clay Center Public Schools and graduated in 1953. She was united in marriage to Charles Hensley on January 2nd, 1953. To this union 4 children were born, Steven, Sheryl, Judy, and Brenda. Arlene was a homemaker while her children were young, then she worked at Leverage Tools Manufacturing in Glenvil, Clay Center Cleaners, and she retired from Dahlsten Truck Lines in Clay Center. Arlene enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, fishing, traveling to Colorado and Wyoming, and spending time with her family. She was a member of the American Legion Post #87 Women’s Auxiliary.

She is survived by her 3 daughters, Sheryl Shuck and husband Tim of Omaha, Judy Hensley of Ogallala, Brenda Earnhart and husband David of York, and step-daughter Gloria Hensley of Sutton, 3 granddaughters, 3 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles, her son Steven, and her brothers Alton and Earl, and sisters Esther, Marie, Doris, and Hazel.
