Sadly, Alfredo Lopez Olivo, passed away on September 16, 2025 due to a heart attack while working in Las Vegas.

A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, October 20, 2025 at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Fr. Jorge Canela officiating. Burial of ashes will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity. Apfel Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Alfredo was born on September 18, 1951 in Scottsbluff, NE to Juan and Elena Olivo. The family moved until settling in Grand Island in the 1950’s. He attended Grand Island Public Schools before moving to Los Angeles, CA in the early 70’s. He moved back to Grand Island to care for his mother, Elena, until her death in 2000. After which he moved to Las Vegas where he worked for Caesars Palace Corp. for 20 years.

He was an avid jogger. He enjoyed watching the Raiders, Huskers, and boxing. He loved his family.

He is survived by his brothers, John of Grand Island, and Ruben of Lincoln; sisters, Mary Garcia of Wood River, and Sandy (Rocky) Rush of Spring Branch, TX; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dario, Rudy, and Oscar; sister, Conception Ostos; niece, Alicia Montelongo; and his nephew, Carlos Olivo.

May he rest in peace as he was a believer in the Lord.
