Vivian Arlene Columbine Shriver

Hastings resident, Vivian Arlene Columbine Shriver, 96, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2011 at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings-Village. Services will be Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 10:30 at the First United Methodist with the Rev. Alan Davis officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, NE. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 19, 2011 from 9 AM to 9 PM with the family present from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home and one hour prior to service time at the church. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Vivian was born October 2, 1914 to Ralph and Grace M (Park) Simnitt in Colorado Springs, CO. She married Paul Shriver on April 14, 1933 in Belleville, KS. She has lived in the Hastings area since 1929 coming from Scribner, NE. She worked for the Hastings Tribune in the mailing Department for 7 years, and later at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital for many years before retiring. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, in Hastings, NE. She is survived by, five children, Bob Shriver and wife Connie, Ted Shriver and wife Barb all of Hastings, NE, Janice Thaut and husband Jerry of Estes Park, CO, Vernon Shriver of Wiggins, CO and Sandra Callahan and husband Lyle of Wichita, KS, one son-in-law, Ron Killinger of Wichita, KS and one daughter-in-law, Carol Shriver of Juniata, NE. 21 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul, one son, Darrell Shriver, one daughter, Shirley Killinger, one daughter-in-law, Estella Shriver, one granddaughter, two great grandchildren, three sisters, Twila Fielder, Vonnie Fielder and Norma Schmidt, and four brothers, Gene Simnitt, Ralph Bud Simnitt, Walter Simnitt and Dean Simnitt. Memorials may be given to the AseraCare Hospice.
