Valyrea Leona Towne (McClain), passed away Wednesday April 22, 2015 at Mary Lanning HealthCare in Hastings, Nebraska.



A memorial service will be held Tuesday April 28th at 566 Stewart Street in Campbell Nebraska at 2:00pm. Burial will be at Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege, Nebraska at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com.

Val was born to Josephine (Brown) and Louis McClain Senior, in Tucson Arizona on April 9, 1948. Val grew up primarily in Nebraska where her parents settled. Val attended Kearney Public Schools until marriage. In 1975 she married Richard Duane Englund in Holdrege and began her lifelong career of homemaker.



Val was passionate about family, ancestry, Native American traditions, horticulture, spending time in nature, spirituality, camping, fishing, arts & crafts, jewelry making, gardening, and studying all religions.



Val is survived by her three children James Allen Coutts of Lincoln, Angel Leeona Bednarz (Dan) of Kearney and Sharonna Fay Englund and her friend Justin DeGroff of Lincoln, four step-children, four grandchildren Tiffany Lynn Bergstrom, Tynan Ontec Degroff, Braydn Bednarz and Parker Bednarz, four grandchildren by her step-children, six siblings 3 sisters and 3 brothers, Charlotte Christensen (James Sr.) of Elm Creek, Jo Ina Slaughter (Gary) of Lyons, Reatha LaVeda Lieb of Franklin, Louis Milton McClain Jr. of Lincoln, Douglas Howell McClain of Wilcox, and Steven Wayne McClain (Helen) of Holdrege.



She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, sister Sharon Kay Johnson and twin brothers Vernal and Virgil who died in infancy.
