Hastings resident, Shirley M. Sampsell, 73, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Mary Lanning Memorial HealthCare, Hastings, NE. Services will be Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 10:30 am at the St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Kenesaw, NE with Rev. Paul Duffy officiating. Burial will be in the Kenesaw Cemetery, Kenesaw, NE. Visitation will be Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 1 pm to 8 pm at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home in Hastings, NE and Friday, June 22, 2012 from 9 am to 8 pm with the family present from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Jackson-Wilson Funeral Home in Kenesaw, NE and up till service time at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Kenesaw, NE. Shirley was born November 12, 1938 to Martin and Eva (Einspahr) Kimle in Hastings, NE. She attended St. Pauls Lutheran Elementary School in Kenesaw, NE. She graduated from the Kenesaw High School in 1956 and from the Kearney State Teachers College in Kearney, NE in 1963. She married Robert D. Sampsell in 1964, they later divorced. Shirley taught school in Colorado, California and Pennsylvania, Sidney, NE and then Omaha, NE for 26 years. Recently she worked for the Hastings Public Schools. Shirley was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Kenesaw, NE where she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was also a lifetime member of the Nebraska State Education Association. Shirley enjoyed her years of teaching children in grade school and Sunday school. It was special for her to have family gatherings. She enjoyed her friends at the YMCA and socializing and playing cards with her friends and family. She was a special loving person to all of us. She is survived by one brother, David Kimle and wife Kathy of Kenesaw, NE, two sisters, Donna Wilson and Marjorie Hollister and husband Richard all of Hastings, NE, 11 nieces and nephews, Scott Hollister and wife Rita, Craig Hollister and wife Nancy, Becky Krumm and husband Jeff, Kevin Kimle and wife Patti, Dana Kimle and Mikki Schoone and husband Dave, Dan Kimle and wife Michele, Trisha Waugh and husband Adrian, Sara Linde and husband Paul, Kelsy Kimle and Kole Kimle and 16 grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Larry Kimle and a nephew Matthew Kimle.
