Sally Ann Collier

December 20, 1919 — May 30, 2015

Sally Ann Collier, 95, long time resident of Grand Island passed away May 30, 2015 at Good Samaritan Society in Wood River, NE.



Services will be at 2:00 P.M., on June 5, 2015 at Resurrection Church (formerly First Baptist Church), 10th and Eddy in Grand Island, with Chaplain Jay Towell officiating. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation hours will be June 4, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 P. M. at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island.



Sally Ann Collier was born December 20, 1919, in Louisa, VA to the late Joseph and Sallie E. (Walton) Farrar. She moved to Beatrice, NE in 1932 where she completed her schooling and to then to Grand Island in 1937.



She worked at the Twin Rivers Egg Plant, the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant, and Golden Age Village. She and husband Rufus were very active in the Lincoln School PTA and Mason's and Eastern Star. She loved hunting, fishing, camping and traveling.



Survivors include two daughters, Jean Ann Tucker of Omaha, NE, Marilyn (Freddie) Richardson, Evans, GA, one son, Raymond Collier of Grand Island. Ten grandchildren, Robert Collier, Grand Island, Nicole Louis, Omaha, Connie Lenz, Shawnee Mission, KS, Sheri Campbell, Lincoln, Nathan Collier, Lincoln, Ursula Tucker, Gaithersburg, MD, Richard Tucker, Albuquerque, NM, Steven Tucker, Omaha, Lissa Tucker-Ralford, Omaha and Carla Walker, York. Twenty-five great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Rufus, one sister, Marie Harris, two brothers Lewis and Charlie Farrar.



Memorials are suggested to the NARFE Alzheimer's Research, in care of Marilyn Richardson, NARFE Chapter 101, 4609 Sheffield Drive, Evans, GA 30809.



The family would like to thank the staff at AseraCare Hospice, Good Samaritan Society, Wood River, NE and Prairie Winds Assisted Living for the care and kindness they provided to Sally.
